Gumbo cook off at Seville Apr 9th
Tera & Ryan will be in charge of our 2 teams.
Cooking starts at 11am and public tasting starts at 4 pm. The club will pay the $10 entry fee for members & SOs only if you RSVP for the event. If anyone wants to bring a keg of homebrew to share with the other cooks please let me know. There is limited space so we don't have room for more than six. Do not bring commercial beer.
Apr 10th BG mtg will be at Rollins distillery if you are interested in a program presented by Patrick, please let me know.

Yesterday club members served beer and OAB at the YEOBB Beer Fest. Thanks to Paul, Rob, Bernie & Ron for contributing AB for the event. Thanks also to Grant, Ryan & Karen for helping serv, set up, and takedown. Mead, Punch & OAB almost all gone. BBD Brown gone too. Full kegs were much lighter. Our next Beer Fest to attend will be the Craftathon in FWB. Date is May 21. after we fill our "free" spots, the club will pay entry fee only for those who provide kegs of beer or at least 1 gallon of OAB. We will also pay entry for those who helped make any of the beer we serve. Let me know ASAP if you are interested in participating.
We will have 2 teams in the Apr 9th gumbo cook-off at Seville. Terra & Ryan will be lead cook teams. Club will pay entry fee for all MIGS who RSVP. their plans to attend. We will also have homebrew to serve to the cooks & ourselves. Anyone want to contribute must let me know ASAP because of the limited serving area. Will probably limit number of kegs. Feel free to RSVP now.
So far, we have 4 for mead day on Apr 24th. The plan is to make 2 20 gallon batches for each participant to take home 5 gallons to ferment. Joann, Rick S, Craig & the club have the first batch. If no one else is interested we won't do the 2nd. Maybe later. Please let me know ASAP if you want in. Only 4 spots left.

FYI we will do the First Annual Frank Ballero Memorial Crawfish Boin on May 21st at Gulf Coast Brewery. Mike will head up the boil team. We will invite the folks from NOLA, a few HBU members and Franks family to join us. There will be no charge, but an RSVP is required to participate. May SOM is Ordinary Bitter.

Brew mtg went well yesterday. We have 10 gallons of Cream Ale for club events. Thanks to Karen & Craig for bringing all the food & snacks. We are all set for the YEOBB BF this Sat. Members not working are encouraged to buy a ticket. Starts at noon.

Our next mtg is this Sunday the 20th at my house. We will start brewing Spring Equinox Cream Ale about 12:30. If enough folks plan to come I'll order pizza and we can drink beer afterward. I'll have the Winter Solstice Cream ale for sampling. OAB will be available. Other beer also. Please let me know if you plan to come
Need hosts for July, Aug, Oct & Nov Winos Mtgs
April 24th will be the Gen Mtg. We will do the Amer Wheat Som Comp on this date. The club has 8 gallons of honey for mead making. Before the meeting we will use it to make 40 gallons of mead. I will keep 5 gals for club use. 7 migs can take home approx 5 gals If you pay for the cost of the honey & yeast, that is $30. You must be present to participate and help with making and clean up. It will be done in 2 batches. We will start at 2 and should be done by the time we start the April mtg at 4. Bringing samples of the end product is also a must.. Bring a fermenter, you have to take it home. Let me know if you wish to participate. It will be at my house.

Party went well in spite of the wind and cold, which was not that bad. Thanks to Rob & Karen for hosting the event. There was plenty of good food and beverages. Every body in attendance had a good time.
Congrats to Paul for Irish Red 1st place. Thanks to Steve and Trish for judging.April SOM will be American wheat.
Our next meeting will be a brew meeting at my house. We will brew 10 gallons of Spring Equinox Cream Ale on March 20. Pizza & sampling afterwards.

YEOBB Beer Fest & others. We will not need volunteers for any of the up coming Beer fests. We get a limited number of passes to each event. We will pay for anyone above that if they provide at least 1 full or close to full keg of beer. Other AB is not needed at this time. The club will also pay for those who helped brew the beer I provide. We currently have beer for YEOBB from me, Bernie, Paul, Rob, and Nanci. Those who helped brew are Grant, Ryan, and Robbie. Anyone else have a keg for the event?
Gumbo Cook off April 9 at Seville. We will have 2 cooking teams. 1 is set. anybody want to be #2? Club will pay for ingredients up to $150. you would need to make 5 gallons. Additionally the club will pay the $10 entry fee for all members who let me know they will be there. More details later.

As Shaq says it turns out that wine world is a good place for a meeting. Thanks to Wade & staff for hosting the event. Our next Winos meeting will be at the Sliva's on April 2 from 4-7. I got 3 different of Dansk mead for the next 3 winos mtgs and 3 botthes of Sam Smith Winter Welcome for BG mtgs.
Our next mtg is this Saturday at Rob & Karen Young's home at 5051 Chumukla Hwy in Pace. Our St Pats party will include Corned Beef & Cabbage, sausages and hot dogs. Attendees are asked to bring a dish to go with the main courses. I'll have the horseradish sauce. In addition to food we will have our SOM comp. Style is Irish Red. So far we have 3 entries: me, Paul & Rob. ANY more?? At this time we have 21 RSVPs I need a good head count for food purchase, so let me know ASAP if you plan to attend. Include what AB you plan to bring to share. I know we will have a jug of green stuff and Rons punch.

Meeting at Garys went well. We have gained 4 new members and have several more interested. Thanks to Gary, Tess & staff for the use of their facilities. We will be back at Garys for Big Brew Day on May 7th. Finally got rid of all the free stuff. Is any body interested in a Speidel 16 gallon fermenter at a bargain price. Look it up if you are curious.
